Biden’s Border Crisis: Concealing the Truth About Terrorists at Our Borders

United States: In an astonishing and flagrant maneuver that exemplifies the Biden administration’s cavalier attitude towards national security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has obstructed a crucial request from Fox News to reveal the nationalities of individuals on the FBI terror watchlist apprehended at our border. By invoking the feeble pretext of “privacy interests,” the administration is withholding vital information from the American populace, thereby amplifying our collective vulnerability.

In its pursuit of transparency, Fox News submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in October to determine the nationalities of terror suspects detained by Border Patrol while unlawfully crossing into the United States via the southern border. After an extended delay of over six months, CBP dismissively refused to release this information, admitting that although the data exists within the Terrorist Screening Dataset (TSDS), it will remain undisclosed, according to reports.

This rationale is not merely preposterous—it is exasperating. By asserting a “clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy,” CBP contended that the privacy interests of these potentially perilous individuals surpass any public interest in transparency. This distorted reasoning starkly highlights the administration’s egregiously misplaced priorities.

In an era where illegal immigration is escalating to catastrophic proportions, the public’s right to be informed about national security threats should be paramount. Yet, the Biden administration is actively obfuscating this information, prioritizing the so-called “privacy” of terrorists over the safety and security of American citizens. This constitutes an outrageous breach of public trust.

Compounding the indignation, Fox News did not seek personal details—only the countries of origin. This straightforward and reasonable request was stonewalled under the guise of privacy concerns, a blatant and cynical excuse that disregards the significant public interest.

The statistics are profoundly troubling. This year alone, there have been 80 encounters with individuals on the terror watchlist at the southern border, compared to 172 in fiscal year 2023 and 98 in fiscal 2022. These numbers underscore an escalating threat that the Biden administration appears determined to downplay or conceal from the American people.

The TSDS, which houses sensitive information on terrorist identities, initially included only known or suspected terrorists (KSTs). It now also encompasses individuals considered a “potential threat” to the United States, including known associates of watchlisted individuals. Despite this broadened scope, the administration’s opacity raises serious concerns about how these threats are being handled—or, more precisely, mishandled.

CBP’s website audaciously asserts that encounters with watchlisted individuals at our borders are “very uncommon,” highlighting the diligence of their agents. Yet, their refusal to divulge even the most basic information about these threats severely undermines any confidence in their reassurances, as reported.

Republicans have justifiably decried this blatant lack of transparency. “Wow: DHS thinks the ‘privacy’ of potential national security threats is more important than the American people’s right to know where these individuals are coming from,” tweeted Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee. This sentiment encapsulates the rightful outrage and alarm felt by many Americans who perceive their government as failing to protect them adequately.

It must be said with a heavy heart that Biden’s border security policy has been disastrous. The choice of providing sanctuary for those who might pose a threat to the safety of Americans due to either their illegal activity or their potential threat from outside is just the latest move in a series of actions that show the failure of this administration to even try to protect America and its citizens from enemies both foreign and domestic. When dealing with a continuing border crisis, the hunger for clarity and firm action is too critical and long overdue. However, under Biden, we are treated to muddling and a serious national security dilemma.

The denial of the FOIA request is not simply a bureaucratic red tape for the agency but a clear indication that this is an administration that is not ready to confront the failures of its policies on whether they affect matters of immigration. It is high time Americans knew the actual dangers at their doorsteps due to the porous borders. It is obvious that there are too many important issues at stake to allow political correctness and fear of privacy invasion to affect our national security.

This administration’s actions are not merely negligent but also pose direct threat to national safety and security of each and every American! It is time for the public to demand accountability of the Biden administration to understand why it continues to try and hide the truth from us. The people of America have come to expect openness, strength, and governance with an emphasis on their security. No more betrayal is the call of the day.
