United States: Within the various contingents of plastic surgeons, one medical association distinctly stands apart by vocally opposing the alteration of children’s bodies.
When it comes to the management of adolescents grappling with gender dysphoria, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons—an organization representing a vast network of 11,000 professionals—conveyed to Leor Sapir of the City Journal that it “has not endorsed any organization’s practice recommendations,” according to reports.
The committee further articulated that “the existing evidence base is perceived as low quality/low certainty” and acknowledged “substantial ambiguity regarding the long-term efficacy of chest and genital surgical interventions.”
Reportedly, esteemed plastic surgeon Sheila Nazarian revealed to Sapir that an increasing number of physicians are voicing apprehensions about colleagues who are coercing gender-questioning youth into hormonal treatments and surgical procedures.
She pointed out, however, that her colleagues are “fearful” that speaking out may jeopardize their professional standing, as has been observed with numerous whistleblowers at other medical facilities.
The prevailing liberal narrative, which posits that it is permissible to remove a child’s sexual organs under the guise of “gender-affirming care,” faces significant disruption from these declarations by leaders in the field, even though “all major US medical associations” unanimously “support” the practice.
Sapir argued that the credibility of this stance faltered because it relied exclusively on the viewpoints of small factions of “ideologically driven” organization members who “exploit their colleagues’ trust.”
The UK’s Cass Review indicates that the World Professional Association for “Transgender Health” leads these organizations.
Their review suggests that WPATH, in collaboration with the US Endocrine Society, contrived a fabricated consensus across medical disciplines by promoting their own perspectives while disregarding alternative data, according to reports.
However, Sapir emphasizes that this fallacy has dangerous consequences, as it has manipulated the United States into becoming one of the few Western nations that allows agenda-driven physicians to cause irreversible harm to children’s bodies.
The Biden administration is advocating for a policy that removes age limitations on gender “transition” surgeries, except for phalloplasty, which involves constructing an artificial penis for a biological female using tissue from another part of the body.
Should physicians identify “significant, compelling reasons,” they may even be able to circumvent that rule.
Reportedly, the prevalence of mastectomies for underage “nonbinary” individuals—who are misled into believing they are neither male nor female—continues to grow, driven by the gender lobby that dominates our healthcare system.
At last, some surgeons are beginning to raise their voices. Imagine the impact if they all united in a collective effort to protect the youth.
