United States: A digital tempest swirled this week as Elon Musk quietly removed a provocative message where he alleged that President Donald Trump appeared in what’s known as “The Epstein Files”—a term referring to sensitive documentation held by American authorities regarding the late financier and convicted predator, Jeffrey Epstein.
The original message was posted on Thursday, right as tensions between Musk and the Commander-in-Chief hit a boiling point. The rift ignited over a dispute related to Trump’s proposed fiscal allocations in a congressional spending measure.
Fueling the fire, Musk didn’t hold back, even expressing that the President of the United States should face impeachment.
By early Saturday, the charged post had vanished from Musk’s account, scrubbed without explanation, though not before it sparked fierce commentary across digital arenas.
Whispers of a possible reconciliation call were quickly silenced. Despite chatter, no such outreach was confirmed, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles flatly stated to NBC News that no dialogue between the two powerful men was scheduled.
President Trump, brushing off the feud with practiced ease during his Friday TV appearances, referred to Musk as a “man who’s gone off the rails” and labeled their rift as something he had “no real interest” in mending. “The poor guy’s grappling with his own mess,” Trump quipped bluntly to reporters.
In a pointed remark to Fox News host Bret Baier, Trump didn’t mince words: “Elon has absolutely lost his grip.”
Musk’s Government Funding Under Scrutiny
As the feud escalated, so did questions around Musk’s ties to federal support. Journalists pressed President Trump on whether he planned to withdraw public subsidies and contracts currently enjoyed by the Tesla and SpaceX CEOs.
Trump acknowledged Musk’s “considerable receipt of government assistance,” adding that he was prepared to “evaluate” the situation, yet emphasized he would only take action “if it’s just—both for the nation and for him.”
The Thursday dispute had already triggered Musk to endorse calls for Trump’s impeachment and imply, through a now-deleted post, that the President might be entangled in Epstein’s shadowy network—a charge heavy with implications.
President Trump retaliated swiftly, suggesting Musk’s federal perks could be slashed as a means of cutting government waste, and he openly questioned why former President Joe Biden had never taken such measures.
