United States: Under the Biden-Harris administration’s border policy, reports of child sex trafficking have more than tripled. The Border Patrol has issued a warning stating that many children crossing the border are being exploited.
The Department of Health and Human Services is posting data about the amount of sex trafficking, according to The Free Press.
When adolescents are victims of sex traffickers, the agency produces Certification and Eligibility Letters, usually only after the victims have managed to get away.
According to the outlet, the amount of letters is three times higher than it was under President Donald Trump’s administration. These figures solely represent the number of kids capable of reporting the occurrences, according to the reports.
A disturbing story on the whereabouts of some of these kids and the efforts of Shepherd’s Watch, an organization to stop the sex trafficking scourge, was reported by The Free Press.
“I couldn’t ignore it anymore,” a woman who identified as “Lisa” told the outlet.
While they cannot make any arrests, Shepherd’s Watch detectives gather data and evidence, which they then provide to the local police. “Law enforcement is understaffed and stretched too thin,” said Lisa. “That’s where we come in.”
The woman explained to The Free Press how sex traffickers use Facebook, TikTok, and other social media sites to market their goods.
The advertisements feature women hiding their faces and dressed in lingerie to prevent people from assuming their ages.
Lisa informed The Free Press that “we track over 12,000 ads for women each week in Houston, 2,600 in San Antonio, 3,500 in Austin, and 14,000 in Dallas.”
Since the Biden-Harris administration abandoned interest in protecting the southern border and adequately vetting immigration, Lisa said that the sex trafficking of migrant girls has “exploded.”
She said, “Nearly all of my sex-trafficking rings now are migrant girls. The ads exploded within the first three months of the border being open. We started noticing new sites and ads in Spanish. That was very few before.
Then sites dedicated to Latino girls popped up everywhere.”
Members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and other gangs that have spread around the US handle a large portion of the trafficking, as per reports.
Gang members lure kids across the border with promises of work when it comes to sex trafficking, and they then demand money for their services.
Prostitution is then frequently used as payment.
Concerns about the approximately 300,000 undocumented children who have not been reported to the administration’s Department of Health and Human Services are heightened by this report.
